Network Security Engineer

The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for overall security posture of the company, and transform reactive security monitoring into proactive, continued security operation for Qubitekk’s cloud based network.

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

Essential Requirements

  • Network Security – Demonstrated and in-depth knowledge of firewall, cloud access security broker (CASB), antivirus, and security baseline configurations. Ability to design and implement solutions to meet regulatory / compliance security controls. Familiarity with NIST Cyber Security Framework, 800-171, and 800-53 a plus! Implement and troubleshoot mult-factor authentication, geo-blocking, VPN access, desktop health checks, desktop security compliance. Analyze, report, and recommend solutions to meet security deficiencies. Maintain up to date security baseline, implementing solutions with minimal impact to business operations. Leverage solutions to protect proprietary / sensitive information within and external to the organization.
  • VMWare – Detailed and demonstrated experience with VMware, ESXi, VMware Workstation design, implementation and troubleshooting. Demonstrated ability to configure novel solutions to meet unique project requirements. Ability to configure virtual machines, virtual networks, with budget and performance requirements for projects. Ongoing support and patching of VMware appliances.
  • Network Equipment Implementation and Maintenance – hands-on installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of infrastructure equipment. Ability to design and implement LAN infrastructure to meet budget and performance requirements. Experience with enterprise grade fiber optics, network routers, switches, firewalls a plus.
  • Business Acumen and leadership – Excellent interpersonal skills. Experience working with or in a public utility organization. Ability to lead all aspects of IT engineering functions including external solicitation of resources to meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Microsoft 365 Security Admin Certification required
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident (required by our Government clients)
  • Able to work on-site at our Chattanooga office

  • Enterprise Administration – Plan and configure services for all aspects of cloud infrastructure. Overlay security solutions within the cloud infrastructure to meet security requirements for safe operations of critical business systems. Detailed and demonstrated technical knowledge of Microsoft 365 architecture, licensing, security solutions, and compliance/regulatory requirements including Microsoft 365 Gov Tenants. Ability to implement solutions with minimal interruption to business operations. Demonstrated ability to manage change control process and interface with multiple facets of the organization. Serve as POC and escalation point for user troubleshooting and desktop support. Excellent interpersonal skills. Windows 10/11 security hardening / baseline creation and implementation. Maintain device inventory and implement lifecycle support process.
  • Network Design / Architecture – Build networks by taking into considerations bandwidth requirements, infrastructure requirements and security. Demonstrated ability to plan, design, and build sophisticated network solutions. Achieve budget and performance balance to meet internal and customer expectations. Provisioning, troubleshooting, and performance testing of solutions during and after implementation required.
  • Network Modeling – Using existing network traffic information to provide growth forecast and solutions to upgrade infrastructure. Identify network constraints and provide recommendations to remediate. Demonstrated ability to work with new / novel designs and adapt to unique challenges.
  • Documentation – Create, maintain, and provide lifecycle support for IT infrastructure documentation as well as project related documentation. Create and document network diagrams to describe new / novel solutions to meet project requirements.

  • We work closely with organizations like (NASA, DoD, Dept of Energy) on research projects such as
    • Developing and demonstrating the transmission of entangled photons between unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and between UAVs and ground stations.
    • Creating custom single photon sources and next generation quantum networking components.
  • We ship commercial quantum optics products, such as our QKD system, Entangled Photon Source, and Quantum Mechanics Lab Kit.
